Good Blogging

Over the past weeks I have been creating blog after blog focusing on sports. I focus on baseball mainly, because of how great the Tigers were doing, Now that they lost the World Series 0-4 it is time to focus on a larger variety of sports. Wyoming High has just finished their football season winning their last game against Belding by a large margin. Now I want to focus more on the NBA and winter sports here at the high school. It was great having the oppurtunity to blog about The Tigers and congradulate them on their success this season. I look foward to changing up topics and will keep the sports news coming.

Bog Snorkeling

The world alternative games held in Whales have many weird "sports" that contestants can compete in. One of the most eye catching ones happened to be Bog Snorkeling.
Bog Snorkeling is a game in which the contestant must make it down a 60yd trench wearing goggles, a snorkel, and flippers. They must snorkel down the the trench doing conventional swimming strokes. "Flipper power is the key."
These sports have descended from many different countries and this has created huge attention from the media. Anyone can compete in this as long as they have goggles, flippers, a snorkel, and are registered to compete.
The current bog snorkeling record is 1.35.18 by Joanne Pitchforth from Heckmondwike.
The cash prizes from this event are;  World champion - £50.00, Junior champion - £25.00, Local champion - £25.00, Fancy dress - £25.00

Tiger's 2 Game Hole

The Tigers have a lot of ground to gain coming back to Detroit this weekend. They have games Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. It's not an easy thing to come back from two games down, but there's nothing else you can do. "The thing is, we have no choice," Fielder said. "We're 0-2. You can't wish it to be gone." Coming back home, The Tigers have the second best home record during the season. Detroit is going to be a very busy place this weekend with both The Tigers and The Lions playing on Sunday. All hotel rooms are booked this weekend because of it. The game starts tomorrow at 8:00 pm.

Monday Night Football

Tonight on Monday Night Football, The Detroit Lions face The Chicago Bears at Solider field. The problem with the Lions this year is they are far from perfect, and quarterback Matthew Staford is way too inconsistent. The Lions are 2-3 compared to The Bears record of 4-1. The Bears only loss this year came from The Green Bay Packers in week 2. This will not be the only time these two teams see each other, they play again December 30 in Detroit. The game starts tonight at 8:30pm.

ALCS Champion Tigers

As a lot of you may have heard, our Detroit Tigers topped the Yankees last night with a blow out win of 8-1, after a rain delay postponed the game for a day. The Tigers swept the series 4-0, surprising people across the country. Delmon Young was named the ALCS MVP after bringing in 6 runs, with two homers, scored as many runs as the Yankees scored in the whole series. Right now tickets for the world series are going anywhere from $336.00 all the way up to $2395.00. For a descent seat in the outfield, you are looking at a good $400.00. These costs may seem unreal for some people, but to others their is no price to see their favorite baseball team play in the World Series.

Wolves Soccer

As the Wyoming Wolves soccer season has come to an end, the players are very proud of what they have accomplished. With an overall record of 17-1-2 and 12-0 in conference they have set the bar high for future  players.
Interviewing one of the players, Efrain Cano Jr. believes that, "We indeed came together as a team well, and there is not one thing that he would want to change about this season."
On the team it was evident that there was no favoritism, and they learned how to play well with one another. Although it was tough for the two teams to come together, they soon came to love their team, and even think it was better than being separate.

Tiger's Heartbeating Finish

Last night the Tiger's beat the Yankees 2-1, with a very scary 9th inning. The Yankees had a man on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. One wrong move could have cost them the game. The Tigers scored early in the 4th and 5th innings, and with a scary 9th inning they managed to pull out another win. Detroit leads the series 3-0. With a win tonight under the lights of downtown Detroit, the Tigers will be in the World Series again, the last time being in 2006. The game starts tonight at 8pm on TBS.

Close Loss

The Detroit Tigers have been battling it out lately with the Athletics in the 3 games they have played. The first game winning 3-1 and the second game winning 5-4, you knew this wasn't going to be an easy one for them.

Oakland started out strong getting a run quickly in the 1st. This got the crowd on their feet. No runs were scored again until the 5th when Oakland got another run. Nothing was going for The Tigers and remained scoreless throughout the game.

Max Scherzer will be at the mound tonight hoping to close it out in Oakland. If they can't succeed tonight, Tigers star pitcher Justin Verlander will be ready for Game 5.

Tune in tonight at 9:30pm to see if The Tiger have what it takes to move on in the playoffs.

Wolves on Top.

Tonight is Wyoming Wolves homecoming game against the Creston Polar Bears. Creston is 0-6 in conference making this a good team to defeat. Our varsity football teams record is 3-3.

One of our quarterbacks who is doing exceptionally great this year is Jack Rozema. As a senior at Wyoming High he has helped bring these two teams together to get victory's. Hunter Halas, who plays tight end on offense and linebacker on defense, is a player to watch throughout the whole game!
Come out tonight to watch Wyoming High take care of business.

Cabrera Crowned King

For the first time in 45 years, Miguel Cabrera earns the triple crown, taking it from Carl Yastrzemski. Yastrzemski has had this award since 1967. The Triple Crown award goes to the individual who has the best stats in all three categories. best batting average, home runs, and runs batted in.With a .330 average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs, Cabrera couldn't believe it once he realized what he had done. "I don't believe this is happening right now," Cabrera said after the game. Miguel will be able to cherish this moment for the rest of his life. Detrot fans couldn't be more proud.

Mike Leshoure's 1st game since Achilles injury.

Mikel Leshoure who is a player for the Detroit Lions came back on Sunday to play his first game since his Achilles injury. Still recovering from his injury spectators did not think they would see him making all the amazing runs and cuts that he did. Leshoure showed no fear as he ran through the many people trying to take him down. His skills were a little rusty but were still great as he showed speed and perseverance.

In the first quarter Mikel received the ball and saw he could not get through the line so he cut to the left and ran. Mikel does a good job with his small short route of getting between the defender and his quarterback.

Mikel's excellent performance has many Lions fans excited about the game and the rest of the season.

Even though the score was 45-41 and the Lions lost it was a very close exceptional game.

 Mikel Leshoure's cut left.

Tigers, Counting Down The Games

Last night September 24, 2012 The Detroit Tigers blow past the Royals pretty easy in a 6-2 win. Up until the fifth inning it was really anybody's game, untill two runs score to make the game 4-1. Tigers star pitcher Justin Verlander improved his lifetime record against Kansas City to 15-2 (.882). Thats the third highest percentage for any active pitcher. The Tigers trail the White Sox by only ONE GAME NOW! Six games remain between the teams including tonights game with a win tonight against the Royals their records could be tied. The Tigers play at home tonight at 7:05pm under the lights in downtown Detroit. Lets see if they can pull out another win tonight.

Wyoming Cheer Pushes Through.

As homecoming approaches the Wyoming Wolves cheerleaders are pushing themselves to their last breath.
With 9 days left until the pep assembly their practices are getting more and more intense every single day.

At practice the cheerleaders must run a mile in under nine minutes, followed by a two hour and fifty-one minute practice. In that practice blood sweat and tears are shed to make every thing perfect for their piers.

"Our practices are intense" says Shawna a Wyoming High cheerleader, "they are probably harder than the football players. We run, we condition, we lift people over our heads and we even dance"

These girls are doing amazing and I hope that they keep the good work up!
